| The Diesel Performance Parts General Motors Duramax system is manufactured to replace the original equipment exhaust system components from the turbocharger down pipe to the tailpipe assembly on any 2001 and newer Duramax equipped pick up. Diesel Performance Parts Duramax system is a complete four inch mandrel bent aluminized steel system that includes our spiral flow core muffler and five inch T-304 polished stainless steel, rolled edge tip. The system has been designed to accommodate any of the various cab and bed length designs currently produced by General Motors. | |||||||||||||||

The Diesel
Performance Parts system begins with increasing the tubing size to 4 inches
by using the same factory style bolt on flange and using the factory hardware
to ensure correct alignment of the system. The intermediate pipe has a welded
T-304 stainless steel hanger that ensures a correctly aligned installation.
Depending on your trucks bed and body style there will be a short intermediate
pipe used that is ready for installation just prior to the spiral flow muffler.

| The Diesel Performance Parts muffler is six inches round by thirty inches long, containing an inner packing material made of stainless steel wool, with a ceramic wool outer packing. The interior of the muffler is a four inch aluminized steel tube that dampens the resonance of diesel exhaust and keeps the interior noise level in the cab within three decibels of the original equipment system. The outer case of the muffler is not a piece of flat sheet rolled and welded into a round muffler. The Diesel Performance Parts muffler starts out as a six inch diameter section of aluminized tubing. added expense of using tubing more than justifies itself in long product life. The first place a diesel exhaust system will usually fail is in the muffler and almost always at the weld seam that runs the length of the muffler case. Because Diesel Performance Parts uses factory formed tubing that failure is eliminated. The 4-inch inner aluminized steel tubing is one solid piece of tubing, not multiple parts. Diesel Performance Parts muffler design uses a spiral flow louver that is specifically designed for diesel exhaust performance. The spiral pattern (view picture) of the |

louver follows the same directional twist the turbocharger introduced to the exhaust gasses as it left the turbocharger housing. This spiral pattern helps speed the exhaust gasses out of the system to lower the exhaust gas temperatures as quickly as possible. The tail pipe is a four inch aluminized steel mandrel bent tube that provides the maximum clearance for the suspension and spare tire during installation. tip is cut and rolled to help eliminate diesel soot from collecting on your truck or trailer. The systems that use a chrome-plated tip, unfortunately, have a very short life. The tip is located directly behind the rear wheel and is battered by road debris. The road debris will cause rust almost immediately in a chrome-plated tip, but not in a T-304 stainless tip. The Diesel Performance Parts system uses welded on T-304 stainless steel hangers to make installation extremely easy. This is also the most secure and permanent method of mounting, it is just like the |

original equipment system was designed. Systems that use clamp on hangers are more difficult and time consuming to install and generally the system does not hang on the truck as well. Mild steel hangers can rust and fail over a short period of time. Causing system to loosen up and misalign itself. Diesel Performance Parts welds on T-304 stainless steel hangers whenever possible to eliminate this problem. The joint clamps provided in our systems are plated to prevent corrosion and provide a long life. The Diesel Performance Parts Duramax system will lower your exhaust gas temperatures up to as much as 200 degrees, while producing a quicker spool up for your turbocharger. The Diesel Performance Parts Duramax system has been dyno tested to produce as much as 25 horsepower and 39 foot pounds of torque. Extra power is great, but lower exhaust gasses will allow you to make other performance modifications to your diesel engine and still keep the exhaust gas temperatures at a safe level. There are also some mileage gains to be realized, based on your driving style and environment. Diesel Performance Parts aluminized systems are protected by their Five Year Limited Warranty policy, to the original purchaser. |
