PDR Camshafts

The PDR camshaft upgrade is primarily designed for towing and daily driving. This cam will also work for trucks that see occasional drag racing and sled pulling. It features higher lift, longer duration, and better lobe separation. These improvements have shown a 30% increase in air flow during flow testing on the bench. Best of all the design is mild enough to not require fly-cut pistons or other modifications.

Typical improvements reported by many who have installed this cam upgrade are:

  • Longer HP & torque curve
  • 1-2 MPG increase in fuel economy
  • 100* drop in EGT's
  • Reduced turbo lag, faster turbo spoolup
  • Improved throttle response
  • Approximately 20% reduction in smoke

PDR has 3 camshaft designs, one for each of the following models of Cummins Turbo Diesel. The 89-93 12V Cummins, 94-98 12V Cummins, and the 98-02 24V Cummins diesels. Each cam has been individually designed, optimized and tested for each engine.

Both the 94-98 12V Cam and the 98-02 24V Cam are available in your choice of a reground factory cam or a brand new cam from a blank core. The 89-93 12V Cam is only available in the reground factory model.

Our reground factory cams start from a stock core. Each cam is checked and inspected, then precision ground to PDR specifications. Each kit includes a PDR camshaft and reground lifters, on an exchange basis only. A core charge will apply.

Our brand new cams start from a semi finished core, custom made to PDR specifications. This core is designed so that a 94-98 12V or a 98-02 24V cam can be ground from the same core. The core features the cam lobe for the 12V lift pump. This cam can be used in a 24V grind and allow a 24V engine to adopt the 12V style lift pump. Each kit includes a PDR camshaft and new lifters. No exchange or core charge applies.

create cams for customer specific applications. If you have a specific cam design you would like to try, PDR can have it made for you.

A PDR camshaft can be installed in house or customer installed. Installing a new camshaft is a 10-12 hour job and should be done by a professional mechanic. An experienced do-it-yourself-er with good mechanical skills and tools can complete the install. Some special tools are required for removing the lifters.
