This plug replaces the air intake heater.

The '99.5 and up 7.3L Powerstrokes are equipped with a grid heater as well as a glowplug circuit. The grid heater is not needed in most cases and was designed for quicker cab heatup. This grid heater blocks approximately 20% of the airflow through the intake manifold. By replacing the grid heater with this plug, you increase airflow -- allowing better combustion. This WILL NOT affect cold starts. It may take an extra minute or two for hot air out of the ducts in very cold climates. This fix does NOT cut off heat to the cab. (The heater grid only aids in quicker
